Peoples in September 2010 completed the
Hampton Roads Transit project for construction of the Norfolk
Light Rail Transit System. The $15 million job was all new track
installation including over 43,000 TF of ballasted mainline track
with concrete ties, nearly 16,000 TF of embedded track, and over
20,500 TF of additional work encompassing direct fixation, yards,
bridges, grade crossings, crossovers and turnouts. The prime
contractor on this project was SKANSKA USA Civil, a leading
international project development and construction company.

Peoples recently finished a $4 million
maintenance project for the Washington (DC) Metropolitan Area
Transit Authority to remove and install nearly 10,000 direct
fixation track fasteners and over 12,000 TF of existing mainline
running rail on the system’s Red Line. This trackwork included the
removal and replacement of both concrete and wood ties, stone
ballast, contact rail insulators and anchor bolts. This work was
performed as a subcontract to Mass Electric/Kiewit.

Peoples successfully completed work on the
New Jersey Transit Hudson Bergen Light Rail Extension as a
subcontractor to George Harms Construction. The project, valued at
over $2.5 million, included the removal old track and installation
of 2200 feet of CWR ballasted track and concrete ties, and the
construction of 2700 TF of direct fixation track. Work also
included removal and replacement of turnouts .

Peoples is the successful subcontractor for rail
installation for the 11 mile Metropolitan Washington Airport
Authority/WMATA Dulles International Airport Corridor Metrorail
Project. Dubbed the Silver Line, the $3.4 million contract
includes acquisition and installation of 31,000 fasteners, 62,000
epoxy coated inserts, installation of track.
